Henry Thomas Crick was born in 1876 in Kirtlng (Newmarket Q2-1876 3B:579) son of James Sidney and Elizabeth CRICK (née GOODY).

1881 census...Aged 5, he was at The Cottage, Kirtling with his father Sidney J CRICK [32] farm labourer; his mother Elizabeth [35]; sisters Sarah [8], Elizabeth [2] and Eliza [4 months] and brother James J [7]. All the family were born in Kirtling.

1891 census...Aged 15, farm labourer, he was at Clay Hall Cottage, Kirtling with his parents, sister Sarah, brother James J (farm labourer), sisters Elizabeth and Eliza and brother Jonas S [2] born Kirtling. Also there was Emily R GOODY [30] born Kirtling, and her daughter Gertrude E [10 months] born Cropley Grove, Lidgate

On 15th March 1900 Henry married Minnie WOOLLARD (Newmarket Q1-1900 3B:689).

1901 census...Aged 25, a builder's labourer, he was at York Row, Ashley cum Silverley with his wife Minnie, son Albert [1 month] born Ashley, and his brother in law Robert J WOOLLARD [24] builder's labourer, born Kirtling. Henry is now recorded as born in Upend.

1911 census...Aged 35, an insurance agent, he was living at 24 Stanley Road,Newmarket with his wife Minnie and sons Henry [8], Herbert [27-5-1903] and George [3-5-1905], all born in Woodditton, daughter Daisy [10-5-1906] born in Woodditton and Elsie [b 1908 d 1912 ] born in Newmarket. It appears his first son Albert (1901) had died and now there was another son Albert Edward [1] born on 13-10-1909. Minnie died in 1912 and the grandfather SJ Crick became the guardian on the pension card. son Henry (1902) would have been too old for the pension card.



He enlisted in Newmarket.
As part of 2nd Infantry Division in July 1916, 99th Company Machine Gun Corps were involved at Delville Wood. 3 of the Company died on 28th July




Henry Crick is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, France pier and face 5C and 12C
